On December 5, 2009, fire destroyed the Moffett’s Meadowcreek II house. This tragedy struck close to home, literally, only 3 houses away from the Schaniel residence.
As the foundation was undamaged, we were able to re-use it, with just a few strategic additions to the layout to add functionality to what had already been a house the Moffetts were pretty happy with.
In the end, the design was made to blend with the other Barry Berkus designed Meadowcreek homes, but modernizing the interior and exterior, with a view towards fire safety. On the exterior Hardi-plank siding was used.
The interior took advantage of an extension to the front to expand all of the previously very tight bedrooms. And an addition to the back allowed for a more spacious living space, where the window and door layout was rethought to connect the interior to the back yard.
